Andreas Galambos

Stupid Cupid!

So I am alone once more,
once again a lonesome fighter,
only lonelier than before;
twosome fighting was much brighter!

The wings of dying butterflies
have beaten all in vain,
for no thing can make them rise;
they'll never fly again!

But I am always positive
and never too afraid:
if butterflies shall no more live,
I will take ants instead!

'Cause ants, too, tickle, tackle, sting!
And ants, they come in masses!
Amongst the blind, one-eye is king -
and emperor with glasses!

Now: neither am I struck blind,
nor do I have to bow.
The right one, I will surely find;
I must just find out how!

How--dy! You feel the same?
You, too, are searching for the flame?
Then I am sure, we're not to blame:
It's stupid Cupid, who can't aim!
