Snow

Snow

Since weeks the snow
-so soft and thick-
is covering every tile and brick.
Life is becoming slow.

Snowdrifts block up the street
keeping the cars in their lots.
Life takes place at limited spots
where trampled paths meet.

We begin to draw nearer together
like the birds that beg for a seed.
We open the window a little to feed
them during this weather.

High snow since weeks,
No end to snow bearing clouds in sight.-
For a deep breath I go outside this night.
 The freeze bites my cheeks.

My feet sink deep. I have to stand still.
My hands stiffen without a glove.
All is buried around what I love.
Cold glares the moon from the hill.
